The Diana Effect

There is something about Princess Diana’s style that I have always loved.

It was elegant, but never too polished. Feminine, but never overly done. Simple, but never boring.

You could see her in a pair of jeans and a white shirt, or an oversized sweatshirt and trainers, and somehow she still looked effortlessly put together. Nothing seemed forced. She never looked like she was trying to prove anything with what she was wearing.

That is what I find so beautiful about her style.

Simplicity isn't easy.

It sounds easy. Put on a white shirt. Put on your favourite jeans. Keep everything minimal. But actually, simplicity takes a certain confidence. It takes knowing what works for you and, perhaps more importantly, knowing what you don't need.

I think there has to be some depth behind simplicity.

The same is true with clothes. When you take everything away and leave only the essentials, every detail matters. The cut of a pair of jeans. The way a shirt sits on your shoulders. The fabric. The fit. The little things you might not notice immediately, but somehow make the whole outfit feel right.

Diana understood that.

Her wardrobe wasn't about constantly changing with every trend. It was about pieces she could come back to. Jeans, shirts, blazers, sweatshirts, simple dresses. Things that felt natural on her and became part of her rather than wearing her.

And I think that is why her style still feels so relevant today.

Fashion moves quickly, but personal style doesn't have to.

I have always been drawn to clothes that make you feel like yourself, only a little more put together. The pieces you reach for without thinking too much. The ones that work on an ordinary day and somehow make the day feel a little better.

That feeling is a big part of what Classique is about.

I don't think getting dressed should be complicated. I don't think you need a wardrobe full of things you will only wear once. I like the idea of having a few really good pieces that you love, wear often and keep coming back to.

Because sometimes the simplest outfit is the one you remember.

And maybe that is the real secret behind Diana's style. It looked simple because she knew exactly what she liked.

That, to me, is elegance.
